Ms. Stelzer was born and raised in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, Southern Africa. Her counseling career began in 1993 when she was employed as a teacher following graduation from Lesotho College of Education (formerly the National Teacher Training College). During her first months of teaching, Ms. Stelzer became aware of the tremendous need for counseling services in schools, as she witnessed many children entering school with a host of unmet physical and emotional needs that interfered with their ability to concentrate and learn. She started to provide guidance and counseling to students in all her designated classes.
In 1997, Ms. Stelzer and her family immigrated to the United States. In Spokane, Washington she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Gonzaga University. She had an opportunity to receive training from diverse educators, clinicians and scholars whose strikingly different personal and clinical styles influenced her own theory of counseling. Her clinical internship was completed at Gonzaga University's Counseling and Career Assessment Center. Immediately upon graduation, she was hired by the University as a professional counselor for a diverse client population with a variety of issues. She lectured about career counseling and human growth and development to both undergraduate and graduate students in the Counseling Psychology program.
Ms. Stelzer relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2004 and joined the Department of Family and Children Services as a social service specialist. She worked with families and children, courts, schools, mental health providers and other local community resources. She later worked as an independent contractor, providing individual and family counseling, substance abuse and domestic abuse assessments for various social service providers.
Ms. Stelzer has worked with clients suffering from depression and suicide ideation, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, issues with intimate partners, parenting issues and career-related issues.
She is a member of the American Counseling Association, Georgia Licensed Professional Counselors Association, and National Association of Social Workers. Her credentials include National Certified Counselor and Licensed Associate Professional Counselor.
