Ms. Stelzer, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Psychotherapist, a Master Addictions Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, a Georgia State-Certified Family Violence Intervention and DUI clinical Evaluator/Treatment provider, and an Internationally Certified Teacher/instructor.
Ms. Stelzer founded the Reflections Family Violence Intervention Program, a division of Atlanta Area Psychological Associates, P.C. She facilitates Alcohol/ Drug Abuse Program and the Domestic Violence Program to court-mandated clients. Both of these programs have open enrollment to folks who desire to enhance their lives, are dealing with these issues themselves or with a family member or even a friend, whether they are court mandated or not.
In addition to providing DUI and domestic violence treatment services, Ms. Stelzer provides individual and family counseling/psychotherapy in the following areas: Depression, suicide, anxiety, grief/loss, physical/emotional abuse, adolescence issues, and personal everyday life struggles. Ms. Stelzer also performs anger management evaluations, alcohol and substance abuse evaluations, and other psychosocial evaluations. Family issues, intimate partner relationships issues and addictions concerns are both priorities in her practice.
Ms. Stelzer's varied career began as a Certified Secondary school teacher in a high school teaching both Math and Science in her native country, Lesotho. Painfully aware of the need in the school system for counseling, Ms. Stelzer not only provided, with permission from the school system the much needed counseling to her students, but then obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
While fulfilling her internship at Gonzaga University, it became apparent that she had an outstanding compassion, skills, and capacity to help students with varied mental health needs. She was hired to provide psychological services to a diverse student population, at the Gonzaga University Counseling & Career Assessment Center. Ms. Stelzer also had opportunities to lecture on various mental health topics to the rest of the university community. She describes her experience at Gonzaga University, as "an amazing journey."
The vastness of Ms. Stelzer's career also includes some government experience having served at the Department of Family and Children Services where her duties included: Counseling families and children, investigating child abuse and neglect, assessing client needs, and monitoring client progress in achieving discharge goals. She has served as both a referral source and a liaison between clients and community resources. Her experiences also include a working knowledge of most aspects of testifying in the court system.
Ms. Stelzer is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Georgia Licensed Professional Counselors Association, and the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors.
For leisure time, Ms Stelzer enjoys long walks and Ballroom and Latin dancing.
