Bobby Frederick, LPC

Bobby Frederick was born in Maysville, Kentucky and raised in Carlisle, Kentucky. He went into the military for 3 years. After the military he went to the University of Washington and received a degree in Psychology. While he was attending college he worked on a research project for a year studying the “skid row” alcoholic. After he graduated he went back to Kentucky for 1 year and worked with migrant and seasonal farm workers. In 1977 he was admitted into Seattle Pacific University Graduate Program and completed his Master’s Degree in Counseling.

After graduating, he went to work for the Veterans Administration for 4 years, working on the Psychiatric Unit and In- patient Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation. During this time he was also involved in several drug and alcohol research projects. He then went to work for the Department of Defense and was the Clinical Director for the Drug and Alcohol Program. This took him to Europe for 51/2 years when he was also in charge of the Family Advocacy program that dealt with Family Violence.

In Europe he was on talk shows and was featured in Anti-Drug and Alcohol commercials for Armed Forces Television. He spoke to Italian audiences on the prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. After his tour was completed, he came to Atlanta, Georgia and worked at Fort McPherson as the Clinical Director for the Substance Abuse Program. He received the Army Civilian Achievement Award for his performance. His retired on 2 May 2003 after 30 years. He now works full time at Atlanta Area Psychological Associates.

He has worked with patients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Chronic Pain. He also provides Anger Management, Marital Counseling, and Grief Counseling. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor in Georgia, an Internationally Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Certified Clinical Supervisor and Multi-Offender Evaluator and Treatment Provider.
