Suzette Cohen, M.A., serves as the liaison between the professional staff and the community resources such as physicians, hospitals, school counselors, and human service organizations. She remains committed to providing the best access to mental health treatment for all people, regardless of circumstances, throughout the lifespan.
Suzette began her professional career in social services in 1981 after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BS Degree in Urban Affairs, with minors in Sociology and Psychology. She spent her early career as a caseworker for the Dekalb County Department of Family and Children Services, and then as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the Cobb County Juvenile Court. While raising her three children, Suzette began facilitating support groups for new mothers as an employee of the non-profit organization Mothers to Mothers. In 1995, Suzette joined the staff of AAPA as the Director of Community Outreach and Client Services.
One of Suzette’s greatest passions is interfaith relations and returned to graduate school to earn her MA degree, with honors, in Judaic Studies. Suzette is fervently involved in community wide interfaith dialogue between members of all the world’s religions and leads interfaith trips to Israel each year to help build bridges between the faith community in Atlanta and beyond.
Suzette is the wife of Mitch and the proud mother of three adult sons, who are doing great things to change the world. Zach is a resident physician at Emory University, Jordan is a student at Emory University School of Medicine/Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Eric is majoring in Wildlife Biology at UGA. Suzette is also a pet lover and includes Gretzky, Garcia and Stella Blue as integral members of her family.
